Micro Adventures are all about getting away and escaping and what better place to do it than on the open road and setting your sights on the big prize. Heading up from Wiltshire at 2am from GBP HQ we made the journey all the way to Durness in good time. 16 hours with two major and one minor pit stop. Durness is a like reaching the end of the UK road after such a long drive, its part of the North Coast 500 and I would indeed drive a leg of it, but its not about that long road trip I’m after. After a night at Durness I pack up and head south on another long road trip, all the way to the Isle of Skye where some of the most stunning weather lucks out on me for my fats climb up Old man of Storr and back down again before setting of home on the long journey back. Some might say that such a long journey is crazy for such a short space of time.
But that’s half the fun, escaping to somewhere wild and be back before anyone notices you’re gone. It’s not a trip for the novice Micro Adventurer though, at over 1400 miles its a hell of a long trip, but it makes it all the easier in “The Mule” my old 2006 Volkswagen Jetta that has taken me all across the UK and Europe. It might not be the ultimate in Vloggers Camper-van Luxury but for munching the motorway miles and getting to where I need to get to efficiently and timely, it’s the Boss!!!!
All filmed on various GoPro’s and iPhones.
