Commercial Photography for Businesses in Surrey

Professional photography for brands, businesses and marketing campaigns.

I'm Guy Butler, a commercial photographer based in Godalming, Surrey, creating original photography for businesses throughout the South East and across the UK.

I work with companies of all sizes, from independent businesses developing their first professional image library to established brands producing advertising campaigns, product launches and ongoing marketing content.

My work covers people, products, workplaces and the environments in which businesses operate. Some projects take place in carefully controlled studio conditions, while others involve photographing working businesses, specialist equipment or products out on location.

Whatever the assignment, my approach is to understand what the photography needs to communicate and create imagery that works for the business commissioning it.

Commercial Photography That Works for Your Business

Photography plays an important role in how customers experience a business, often long before they speak to anyone within it.

The images on a website, in an advertising campaign or across a company's marketing materials tell people a great deal about the products being offered, the people behind them and the standards they can expect.

That's why I approach commercial photography as part of the wider marketing process, rather than simply arriving to take photographs.

Before a shoot, I want to understand who the images are intended for, how they'll be used and what makes the business worth photographing.

For some clients, that means creating a distinctive image for a campaign. For others, it means building a collection of professional photographs that can support their website, social media, presentations and printed marketing for years to come.

The scale of the production may vary, but the attention given to the brief remains the same.

Commercial Photography Services

Advertising & Campaign Photography

From new product launches to established advertising campaigns, I produce photography designed around the message a business wants to communicate.

This can involve a single carefully planned hero image or a wider collection of photographs developed around a creative brief.

Depending on the project, we might work in a studio, on business premises or at a location chosen specifically for the campaign.

I'll work with you to establish the visual direction, plan the practical requirements and create imagery suitable for the platforms and formats where it will appear.

People, Workplaces & Corporate Photography

Photographing staff at work, leadership teams, customer interactions and the environments in which a company operates can provide a more genuine picture of an organisation than generic stock imagery.

I create professional business photography for websites, recruitment campaigns, company profiles, editorial features and wider corporate communications.

The approach can be carefully directed or more documentary in style, depending on the business and the people being photographed.

For dedicated executive portraits and company headshots, I also offer a separate on-site corporate headshot service.

Brand & Marketing Photography

Businesses need a consistent supply of imagery to support their marketing, but not every photograph needs to be part of a large campaign.

I produce commercial image libraries covering products, people, premises, services and the smaller details that give a business its identity.

These photographs can form the foundation of a new website, support an established brand or provide original material for ongoing marketing.

Where appropriate, I plan different compositions and orientations during the same shoot so that the finished collection can be used across a variety of applications.

Industrial, Manufacturing & Specialist Photography

Factories, engineering workshops, manufacturing facilities and specialist working environments often contain equipment, processes and technical details that need to be represented accurately.

I have extensive experience working with engineering, defence and specialist manufacturing businesses, creating photography of people, equipment, processes and working environments.

My approach is to understand what I'm photographing and why it matters, then work within the practical and safety requirements of the location.

The resulting imagery can support company marketing, recruitment, technical publications, presentations and business communications.

Products & Lifestyle Photography

Products can be photographed in many different ways, depending on the intended audience and how they will be marketed.

Sometimes a clean, carefully lit product photograph is exactly what's required. In other situations, showing a product being used in a believable environment provides far more useful context.

I work with manufacturers and brands to create commercial product imagery, from controlled studio photography to location-based lifestyle campaigns.

Particular attention is given to the details that matter to the product, whether that's its materials, design, construction or how it fits into the everyday lives of the people using it.

Hospitality, Property & Service Photography

For businesses selling an experience or a professional service, photography needs to help prospective customers understand what they can expect.

That might mean photographing a hospitality venue, holiday accommodation, healthcare practice or the people providing a particular service.

I focus on creating images that accurately reflect the environment while presenting the business at its best.

Interiors, facilities, staff, customer interactions and smaller details all contribute to a more complete picture of what a company offers.

Commercial Photography Across Different Industries

One of the things I've always enjoyed about commercial photography is the opportunity to work within very different businesses.

Over more than 15 years, I've photographed projects involving defence and outdoor equipment, engineering, manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, automotive businesses and professional services.

The environments and technical requirements may be different, but each commission begins with understanding the client's work and the audience they need to reach.

That variety has shaped the way I approach new projects. I'm comfortable working with creative teams and marketing departments, but equally happy working directly with business owners who may be commissioning professional photography for the first time.

Selected Commercial Photography Projects

Pea Green Physio Photography for a Healthcare Business

Photographing a healthcare business involves presenting a professional environment while keeping the people and their interactions natural.

For Pea Green Physio, I created imagery showing the therapists, treatment facilities and working environment, helping the practice present a more complete picture of the services it provides.

The photographs were planned as a flexible collection for the business's website and marketing, rather than a series of disconnected portraits and room photographs.

The House of Upholstery Craftsmanship & Business Photography

The House of Upholstery provided an opportunity to document a business where craftsmanship and the people behind it are central to the service.

Photographing within the workshop allowed me to capture the working environment, the practical details of upholstery and portraits of the people responsible for the work.

The resulting images were intended to support the business's portfolio, publicity and wider presentation.

Oaklea Dartmouth Hospitality & Property Photography

For Oaklea, a holiday property near Dartmouth in Devon, the objective was to photograph the accommodation in a way that helped potential guests understand the experience of staying there.

I concentrated on the interior spaces, natural light, practical features and setting, creating a collection of images suitable for holiday accommodation listings and wider marketing.

The photographs needed to present the property attractively without losing an honest sense of its size, character or surroundings.

From Initial Brief to Finished Photography

Understanding the Project

Every commercial photography commission begins with a conversation.

We'll discuss your business, the imagery you need, how it will be used and any existing visual or brand guidelines.

If you already have a detailed creative brief or shot list, I'm happy to work from it. If you're still establishing what you need, I can help develop a practical approach based on your objectives and budget.
